Another WonderCon come and gone! It was a great show this year, much like the old San Diego Comic Cons from 10-15 years ago. I was able to attend on Saturday and Sunday this year and bring my two oldest kids each day. Got to meet up with some old friends and meet some new ones!
I’d like to thank everyone who came out to the panel and taking time away from the show on the last day!
Below is a gallery of photos from the show and from the panel!
If you can’t make it to our panels please join our Meetup Group at http://www.meetup.com/FullTimePartTimeCreative/ and we will be back at San Diego Comic Con 2014 (hopefully!) with the same panel as well!
Full Time Creative Work on a Part Time Schedule Panel
Sunday, April 20
3:30p.m. – 4:30p.m.
Learn the secrets to using part-time collaboration to achieve full-time results! No matter which industry (comics, illustration, movies, design, animation, costuming /cosplay), “breaking in” has never been more apt a term than in today’s media and is a full-time job, especially if you have only part-time hours to accomplish it. What will be discussed is how to approach organizing ANY group with a goal from hobbist to professional purposes, thus it applies to any interest of geek or creative culture. Hear Topher Davila (Art Director, GeekdomWear.com and Co-Creator/Co-Producer,”We’re Always Like This” ), Sean Glumace (Digital Arts Instructor at Golden West College and WordPress expert), Kevin Flessing (Co-Writer “We’re Always Like This”), Mario Martinez (Co-Creator, TomatoTV.net), Renah Wolzinger (Department Chair, Digital Media, Digital Arts and Design at Golden West College), Heather Joseph-Witham Ph.D. (Mythbusters and various TV), Ron Coleman (Molecular Geneticist and Writer) moderator Cat Smith (Voice Actress) talk about how they successfully juggle time between the creative and business sides while being involved in goal oriented groups and discuss the process, pitfalls, and potential of part-time collaboration from their experiences in illustration, writing, design, animation and live action filming from a variety of levels of experience in administration and sizes of organizations. Content will be a mix of speaking, questions and some short interactive applications where the audience can directly apply the topics covered. Whether you’re a hobbyist or looking to go pro, if you struggle with deadlines, need help finding collaborators, want to know how to effectively work with a team without mortally wounding each other or simply want to know how to get your foot in the door, this panel is not to be missed!
